Scrapbooking layout is one of the most important things when making your scrapbooking album. Layout of the page gives additional meaning to the photos and gives a special emotional note to photos and to the page itself. Since you are obliged to pay attention to your scrapbooking layout, you have to think and be very careful when making your choices with other scrapbooking materials that will go on the page together with the photos.
The first thing that can define your scrapbookin layout is the choice of an album. If you choose a theme album then you already have a basic element in creating your scrapbooking pages. That can be very helpful for beginners because it gives them a certain direction and a motif to stick with. On the other hand, it can limit your creativity so you could be stuck and perhaps leave the page unfinished. So if you think you can do it all on your own, choose a non-themed album and you won't have problems with any limitations, you will be free to create your scrapbooking layout from the very foundations.
Next, you have to decide which photos to use on your pages. People often use every possible picture they have from a certain event but that is not always a really good idea. Choose photos that carry the remembrance of the atmosphere and that are attractive at the same time. Then you will be able to do some journaling with those photos, if you wish to do that of course. Just don't get too excited about it, remember that a few well chosen and carefully placed words can be worth more than the entire story.
Organizing your photos on scrapbooking pages can be a demanding piece of work, considering that you have to blend photos with the background on the page. This is a challenging task, for you can go from poor look of your layout to exellent. Good idea is to trim your photos a little. Fixing the focal point and cutting off unimportant details that are only a distraction can help you incorporate photos on the page as you wish.
If you didn't want to use paper as the entire background on your layout, you can do some photo matting. Or just use wisely chosen colored or patterned paper as borders. Maybe sometimes you'll find little dye cuts on the photo corners a more appropriate solution. Try laying it all on your scrapbook page and see what looks best.
Now it's time to enrich your pages with embellishments. There are plenty opportunities for that. You can use stickers, die-cuts, punches, conffeti and more. It's on you to decide how many of them you will use on your pages. The best advice is to you stick with your first intentions and keep it going. After you get more exeprienced with all those decorating techniques, you will surely use much more embellishments then you did on your first pages. In time you will find your own style and every page you make will be a beautiful memory to last.
