Scrapbooking Guide

This article is made for beginners but experienced scrapbookers could read it too, in order to remember some of the reasons they're still practising this art. I like to look at it as an art and not only as a hobby. There is a certain amount of creativity included in every scrapbook page you make. In time, you will be amazed at all those different kinds of ideas that just keep pouring out of your head as your scrapbooking gets better and better. And when you look back at the first pages you made, you'll feel like a completely different person made them.

The main idea of scrapbooking is to create a one-of-a-kind page which preserves your photos, clippings, letters etc. You could be surprised at how much love can be shown on just one page. That energy is something that will be felt by anyone who sees your work. We all know that behind every photo there is an atmosfere that can be described only by those who are on that photo or have been there, right?! So, in order to keep that moment in time you are to make a page that will keep all those little details and memories that make our lives so beautiful.

You can write lyrics of a song that played on that special day, parts of some interesting conversations, something that made you laugh or the mood you were in. Don't be afraid to ask the people on the photos for some ideas, even children can help out with their views of certain situations. But if your mind is blank then leave it for later, think it all over and it will come to you.

We all have our own style when making our scrapbooking pages so there is no need to copy others or overdecorate. Keep it simple and follow your instincts and the way you imagine it should be. Whatever crosses your mind can be a nice addition to your scrapbook page. There are no rules. It's your page to make so don't be shy. Whatever you make will be a beautiful memory of what you and your loved ones went through in certain parts of your lives.

After you gain some basic knowledge of scrapbooking and learn some techniques, you can partner up with a friend or arrange a scrapbooking party. Working with someone is very motivating, as is the case in every other activity. There are new ideas, suggestions, sharing knowledge, learning from others' experiences.

It can be funny to play different games on those parties. Here is one called Crop Bingo. Every 15 or so minutes, call out an item and have croppers see if they have the item on the page they are working on. Each time someone has that item give them a ticket for a prize they can collect at the end of the night.

One other thing I just remembered. I had a friend that had some great scrapbook albums and I really enjoyed her company. I noticed that there is quite a small number of photos with her on them. She said that she looked too old, ugly, fat, and all those bad things we say to ourselves every now and then. Then I thought how 10 years from now, she will be sorry she didn't include more of her photos. So don't make the same mistake. All memories are precious and you will look back on them differently in a few years.

I think this is enough for some basics about scrapbooking. And it's clear why you should be doing it right now. It's beautiful, interesting, mind relaxing, but also creative, useful, and has a certain amount of fun in it, especially when you go to scrapbooking parties. So, don't hesitate. Enjoy your crafting and just keep on scrapin'!
